HY Architects designed a comprehensive addition to Tice Creek School, a K-8 school, in the Walnut Creek School District with a focus on enhancing the educational experience for students. Key project features included a new modular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) centered classroom building. This space was designed to be highly adaptable, accommodating both small and large group learning environments and integrated technology throughout the spaces to emphasize hands-on learning for students in grades 6-8.
Exterior site work created additional outdoor learning and gathering spaces for students and featured roll-up doors that open to an adjacent to a lunch patio, playground and outdoor amphitheater and allows for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor activities. Designed as a total learning center, the new multipurpose building connects the upper and lower grades on the campus and serves multiple functions, including space for large assemblies, dining facilities, a stage, restrooms, storage space, and a lobby.
