HY Architects recently completed the design of the Excelsior Clinic, a new 10,000 SF healthcare facility located on Mission Street in San Francisco. Developed in partnership with Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC), the clinic expands access to primary and dental care for historically underserved communities.
Uniquely integrated into a low-income housing development, the clinic was made possible through a 75-year lease agreement between the City of San Francisco, Bridge Housing, and MNHC. HY Architects led extensive stakeholder engagement to navigate complex site selection and permitting challenges.
The facility includes a welcoming reception area with warm finishes, a dedicated dental clinic, behavioral health offices, a wellness conference center, and a staff break room with outdoor views. Public art is a central feature of the design, with large-scale murals planned to reflect the cultural identity of the Excelsior neighborhood and create a vibrant, healing environment for patients and staff.
