The new MCHC Health Centers Urgent Care and Administrative Building represents a major step forward in expanding healthcare access for the Ukiah community.
HY Architects partnered with MCHC Health Centers early in the process, helping to evaluate potential properties and guiding the selection of a building that could fully support both urgent care services and administrative operations. Located in downtown Ukiah, the rehabilitated building brings critical healthcare functions together in one efficient, patient-centered environment.
The first floor will be dedicated to urgent care services, including exam rooms, a procedure room, X-ray suite, and staff dedicated work spaces to provide a facility focused on patient support and healing. The second floor provides modern administrative space with offices, meeting rooms, and staff amenities that promote collaboration and well-being.
More than just a renovation project, this facility strengthens MCHC Health Centers` ability to deliver timely care, reduce wait times, and better serve Mendocino County with accessible, high-quality healthcare.

HY Architects is honored to be leading the renovation of the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Health Center. This 25,500 SF transformation is designed to create a more supportive and healing environment for youth in crisis.
The PHF will include 13 single-occupancy rooms, a three-person room, a seclusion room, an enclosed outdoor patio, a doctor’s office, an interview/intake room, a full bathroom with showers, and a classroom for therapeutic activities. The CSU will feature 12 two-person rooms, a four-person room, a restraint room, an enclosed outdoor patio, a doctor’s office, an interview/intake room, a full bathroom with showers, and a classroom for activities.
Upgrades to the administration area will include a renovated intake room, interview/meeting room, staff toilets, a nursing staff area, patient property storage, and additional doctor’s offices.
This project is targeting LEED Silver certification for Commercial Interiors, reflecting our commitment to sustainable, thoughtful design and the well-being of the community.

Exciting updates took place over the last few months at Walnut Creek School District! We are thrilled to announce that construction commenced at Buena Vista Elementary School as part of a full-campus modernization project.
This transformative effort includes upgrades throughout the entire campus—new classroom finishes, improved electrical and lighting systems, and enhanced natural lighting in learning spaces. An addition to the administration building will establish a new and secure front entrance, redefining the face of the campus. The project also features significant site improvements, including shaded outdoor learning environments, upgraded play areas, ADA enhancements, and brand-new kindergarten and TK classroom buildings and playgrounds.
This past summer’s work is focused on site improvements and the construction of new K-TK classroom buildings—marking the first phase of a two-summer transformation that will bring lasting benefits to the Buena Vista community. We look forward to sharing progress on the next phase as we continue building a brighter future for the Buena Vista community!
