As August came to a close, we celebrated the retirement of our own bow-tie-wearing legend.
After 18 incredible years with HY Architects and nearly 50 years in the architecture profession, Lee Pollard leaves behind an incredible legacy as a principal, mentor, and leader.
His influence can be seen not only in the work he helped shape, but in the people he supported, challenged, and inspired along the way. Weâre grateful for the countless contributions, lessons, and memories he leaves with us.
Hereâs to the next chapter â filled with family time, travel, and plenty of new adventures. Congratulations, Lee! Weâll miss you around the office, bow tie and all.

Modular buildings have been reimagined for K-12 schools.
For years, they were seen as low-cost, temporary classrooms. But today, modular construction has completely evolved and is the right solution for many school districts. Buildings are now made with high-quality materials and energy-efficient systemsâoften indistinguishable from traditional construction.
In California, schools are taking full advantage of this shift. With changing enrollment, tight budgets, and strict building standards, modular classrooms offer a faster, more flexible solution. They can be installed in a fraction of the time, meet high safety and energy codes, and adapt as schools grow or change. Take a look at what HY Architects designed for the Davis Joint Unified School District for their new modular classrooms.
