We are thrilled to announce the new Performing Arts Center in the Hayward Unified School District! After conducting a thorough facilities assessment and conceptual design, HY Architects worked closely with user groups to ensure the center meets the diverse needs of the community. Spanning 23,400 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility includes a 500 seat theater with full orchestra pit, a lobby with a dedicated box office, a community room / black box theater, and comprehensive backstage support areas. The newly designed theater includes variable acoustics and advanced AV technology and theater equipment, an experience for a wide variety of performances – dance, theater, musical and orchestra, and presentations. The facility also prioritizes accessibility, with all building catwalk levels fully accessible. This theater supports variety of educational functions and performances for the entire district - ranging from drama and music to dance and lectures. The Performing Arts Center is set to become a vibrant hub for creativity and learning for the Hayward community.

Our submission for this year`s conference is the Decima M. Allen Elementary School in the San Bruno Park School District—a shining example of modern educational design and community impact! Honoring Decima M. Allen, the city`s longtime librarian and school board member for 25 years, the new campus fosters continuous learning with flexible indoor/outdoor spaces, STEAM programs, and inclusive environments for all learners. From nature play zones to energy-efficient systems and future garden spaces, this school beautifully blends sustainability with innovative learning opportunities for students and acts as a hub for the community.
