HY Architects has partnered with the San Bruno Park School District for many years, beginning with the development of a district-wide Master Facilities Plan and continuing through the implementation of multiple projects. One such project is the complete replacement of Allen Elementary School.
The new campus was designed as a Total Learning Environment, with flexible and inclusive spaces that support a wide range of learning styles and programs. Key features include a special education classroom, a dedicated STEAM classroom, SEAL program spaces, RS/Speech/Counseling rooms, and breakout areas for small group instruction. Classrooms
feature movable partitions and integrated storage to maximize flexibility, while the library includes mobile shelving to support a variety of learning and community uses.
The new campus also includes outdoor learning areas for TK and Kindergarten with direct classroom access, nature play zones, and provisions for future gardens. A park-like play area and an interior drop-off zone enhance safety and community access, while a dedicated library entrance and multipurpose building with roll-up doors support after-hours use and outdoor learning.
